I assess each horse from a holistic point of view, which means I look at the big picture, break it down into manageable pieces and apply my skills to help the horse regain balance or homeostasis, if you will. I feel the quality of the muscles, find structural misalignment, assess the horse’s demeanor and ask pointed questions that help me understand the horse, owner and goals for the horse’s performance. I watch the horse move to see how compensation is impacting locomotion. Every session is tailored to the individual horse’s needs. I incorporate all of my skills and apply each where needed. Sessions generally run an hour and a half and culminate with discussion about the session, suggestions going forward and a write up that helps both the owner and myself track the horse’s progress.
