Roughly 700 muscles make up the equine body, each with its own unique and interconnected function. These muscles are designed to provide movement and/or stabilize the skeleton, organs, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Because the musculoskeletal system is deeply integrated, misalignment—caused by injury, poor saddle fit, unbalanced riding, or any number of other factors—can trigger a ripple effect of compensation throughout the body.
Left unaddressed, compensation can wear down even the most capable and willing horse. Physical discomfort often leads to reduced performance, behavioral changes, and eventually injury. Equine Body Alignment offers a proactive approach to reducing and reversing the systemic effects of compensation.
During each session, I look and feel for signs of asymmetry, misalignment, and discomfort. Using a combination of massage and targeted muscle contraction and release techniques, Photonic Therapy, and BEMER Therapy, I help the horse’s body release, realign, rebalance, and return to a more comfortable and fluid state of movement.
Massage and body alignment techniques encourage contracted muscles to release, relieving restriction and tension. Photonic Therapy activates acupoints, supports meridian flow, and promotes joint balance—bridging the physical and energetic systems of the horse for deeper integration of balanced healing.
The BEMER Horse Set enhances microcirculation by improving both systemic and localized blood flow. This boosts oxygenation, nutrient delivery, and cellular detoxification—nourishing tissue at the deepest level.
With regular sessions, horses develop lasting muscle memory and improve range of motion throughout their body. Equine Body Alignment sessions are also highly effective for horses in rehabilitation helping them recover strength, confidence, and comfort.
“The better a horse feels, the more they are willing and able to give.” — Soaring Horse
Stacey Currie combines a lifetime of horsemanship with a diverse background in holistic therapies to create a truly integrative approach to equine wellness. Her professional journey began with formal training at the Boston Institute of Shiatsu and Complementary Therapies, where she spent three years immersed in Zen Shiatsu and Traditional Chinese Medicine under the guidance of Kiku Zutrau-Miyazaki, co-founder of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia.
She went on to complete a degree in Holistic Therapy at Lesley University, expanding her understanding of how mind and body work together in healing. Concurrently, Stacey pursued equine-specific training at the Geary Whiting Equine Massage Academy in California, where she learned the principles of Traditional Equine Sports Massage, an essential aspect of equine therapy.
Stacey has continued to enhance her skills through ongoing study in the Masterson Method, Reiki (Level II), and advanced modalities such as Photonic Therapy, Photopuncture, and BEMER Therapy. In 2020, she became a Board Certified Light Therapist with the Photonic Therapy Institute, followed by Photopuncture certification in 2021—reconnecting her with the Traditional Chinese Medicine roots of her earlier studies.
Beyond individual sessions, Stacey has developed a robust clinic practice, bringing equine bodywork to groups and collaborating with an Equine Chiropractor to create comprehensive alignment experiences for the equine community. In 2021, she integrated the BEMER Horse Set into her practice, utilizing patented PEMF technology and systemic microcirculation support, further enhancing her offerings in equine therapy.
Over the last decade, Stacey has woven together her education, experience, and passion into a thriving practice that reflects her belief in the horse as a whole being. Today, she and her family reside on a small farm in Central Massachusetts, where horses, dogs, and cats are as integral to daily life as her ongoing dedication to holistic equine therapy.
